I have always thought you were one of the most beautiful women I have met with your smile that lights up your face, a cloud of hair that I am envious of, beautiful skin, and above all, an amazing heart that shines through. Wish y'all a wonderful New Year!

Perfection. I have a similar shade of skin, and while I always (overstatement. I should more accurately say: in adulthood, I've learned to) love my skin tone, I'm working on accepting my darker spots, scars, and the parts of my body made up of deeper browns. A mutual friend of ours said to me last week, "It's not discoloration, it's just skin," and it shattered the magnifying glass of disapproval I hold to my face in the mirror as I rub on products to make me more youthful, more singularly colored. As if I'd be less imperfect if I were just one continuous brown versus many.

But here you describe the multi-ness of the brown. Different shades make your garden beautiful. As you say so aptly, "and suddenly I saw it - brown meeting brown."

My favorite quote:

"Brown as foundation. Brown as the color everything grows from. Brown as abundance itself - the earth that feeds the roses, holds the cosmos, nurtures every bloom I’ve ever loved. Not lack. Not less-than. The source of it all."

Nikita Thank you for taking the time to share this with me - I'm so moved that it resonated with you. You are beautiful in all your brown glory, and I'm honored these words found their way to your heart.
